Dr. Robert Sept, D.V.M., Owner

In 1978, Dr. Robert Sept moved to Alaska after graduating with honors and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) degree from Washington State University.

Dr. Sept loves dogs and cats. Surprisingly, his parents wouldn’t let him get his first dog until High School. He originally wanted to study pharmacy in college but he quickly switched his focus to veterinary medicine. His two favorite colors are navy and royal blue. You can see him wearing blue daily in his surgical scrubs.

In 1980, Dr. Sept met Joe Reddington, Sr. This relationship started Dr. Sept’s career with the Iditarod as a Trail Veterinarian, Chief Veterinarian, and Board of Director and a long-term relationship of taking care of Joe Reddington’s and Susan Butcher’s sled dogs, and many other famous mushers and dog sled teams ever since. Dr. Sept traveled to Europe to speak at a world-wide symposium, and continues to educate and pass on his knowledge about active sport and sled dog veterinary medicine and care.
